Steve's Birthday

I got the videos from Steve's birthday party from Han yesterday. Judy and Susan got Steve some "Spy Vision Goggles" and a Military Outfit set. They proved to be pretty entertaining. Several people said the goggles would be good for working inside a computer, yeah that's typical Case people for you. As for the videos, here is Han being attacked by Steve and here is Jia Jia attacking Steve.

Outback Steakhouse

A bunch of us went to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner tonight. It was the best meal I've had in a while. We shared 2 Bloomin' Onions, the sauce that comes with those is so good. The Walkabout Potato soup was delicious with the melted cheese and bacon bits. And of course there were the many loaves of bread. My main course was the 14 oz New York Strip Steak and it was very very good. We had a really good waiter too. He refilled our drinks immediately, if not before they were empty (something I know Jeff always likes about Chinese restaurants). Kurt and Jake were folding their napkins in various ways from their days as bus boys and our waiter, oh yeah his name was Jason how could I forget, showed us a pretty neat napkin fold. Angie tried to replicate it, but it didn't quite turn out right. :p

Updates

Sarah keeps telling me to update my blog, so that's what I'm doing now. I'd rather be out of my room doing something, but there doesn't seem to be anything exciting going on now so I guess I'll sit here and write a bunch of blog entries.

OneWord: Boss

My boss at Apple this summer will be Nik Bhatt. I've talked to him on the phone and he sounds like a nice guy. Actually, everyone I've talked to at Apple has been really nice. This is going to be a fun summer.

OneWord: Glamour

Glamour, glamourous, I don't have much to say about this. I already read Erik's OneWord about this and he talked about magazine's Cosmo and Maxim. I think I'll just sit and watch the timer bar fill up. Yay done.

OneWord: Screen

Screen is a nifty terminal management utility for Unix. Thanks to fink I have it installed for OS X. The 23" Cinema Displays have a nice screen, maybe I'll have one at work this summer. That would be pretty sweet.

OneWord: Princess

Thank You, Mario but our Princess is in another castle. Yay video game references. Of course the Something Corporate song Punk Rock Princess comes to mind, although it's not anywhere near my favorite song of theirs. The Princess Bride is a great movie, we watched it the other week from Han's computer because some people hadn't seen it.

Dream Come True

I got the call tonight offering me the internship position at Apple that I interviewed for last week. I can hardly believe it. No more than a week ago, I had no idea what I would be doing for the summer. Possibly staying in Cleveland and working at Metro Health, maybe staying in Maryland with my Uncle and working at Aspen, but I wasn't expecting to ever hear something from Apple. And now one week, a few emails, two phone interviews, and one job offering phone call later I'm an Apple employee (well once I fill out the paperwork which as Jeff mentioned is probably going to contain one hell of an NDA since it sounds like I'll be working on a product that hasn't even been officially announced yet). Wow, I don't know what else to say. This has got me thinking about how different this school year turned out from what I expected, but I think I'll save that for another post sometime.

OneWord: Paper

I have one more reaction paper to write for my Japanese Pop Culture class. Part of it is supposed to be on Akira, and the other part is on various manga. It would have been nice to have gotten back even one of the other 4 reaction papers we turned in throughout the semester.

OneWord: Reflect

I already read Erik's post about reflect and he mentioned that vampire's don't have a reflection, so this pretty much obligates me to write about the damn attractive Jessica or Scary Vampire Girl as Angie calls her because she is pale. Angie clearly doesn't have good taste in women. :-) Jake, Phil, and Matt agree with me that she's hot. She seems like a nice girl and it'd be nice to get a chance to talk to her sometime before the end of the year so if I see her around next year I can say hi. But that's not too likely to happen.

OneWord: Actually

One week ago, I had very little idea what I was going to up doing this summer, but after last week it looks like I actually have a chance at working for Apple. I spoke with 2 different people at Apple last week about the same position and I think the interviews went pretty well. Hopefully I'll hear something early this week.

OneWord: Dawn

That would be when the sun rises. We took a fun trip to Chuck's Diner last semester around 5 in the morning and our goal was to get back before the sun rose. We did manage to, but barely. Going to bed before the sun comes up is a good thing. :-)

OneWord: Order

The happened-before relation is a partial ordering of events in a distributed system. I needed to know that little bit of info for today's operating systems test. I guess I don't need to go to that class anymore since the final is optional and we just took our last test and there isn't anymore homework.

OneWord: Candle

We aren't allowed to have candles in the dorm because they're a fire hazard I suppose. Apparently footspray can set up a smoke dectector because that's apparently what happened a couple nights ago at 2:45 am. I wasn't asleep at the time, in fact I don't think I went to bed until 5 that night.

Posted by Jason at 02:06 AM

OneWord: Enemy

I don't think I have any enemies. There's a few professors I could do without, but I'm not sure I'd consider them enemies. And I don't think I am anyone's enemy. Hmm, only one person has ever asked me "Do you hate me?" and the ironic/sad thing the person that asked is the only person I've ever been in love with...strange.

OneWord: Specific

Heh, specific is an interesting word for one word, just because every day they give you a specific word to write about. I don't have much else to say about specific, I haven't done one word in a while, so I thought I'd catch up on them.

ALLISTer R0x0rz

Dana, Sarah, and I went to the Allister concert tonight at the Agora Ballroom. I had a great time. The Interns, Fall Out Boy, and Don't Look Down were the opening bands. The Interns played first and were pretty good. They said their EP would be out soon. Fall Out Boy from Chicago played next. They are a great live band. Tonight was their last night on this tour, so on their last song the guys from Allister ran out on stage and wrapped duct tape around all of them and threw a few of them into the crowd. I've enjoyed Fall Out Boy both times I have seen them and I'll probably pick up their album Take This to Your Grave when it comes out in May. Don't Look Down played third was was pretty good. Not much else to say about them. Allister was great as I knew they would be. They played about the same set of songs as when they played after Finch. Sarah got their set list so I'll probably post that later. Unfortunately, they didn't play Fraggle Rock. On their last song Fall Out Boy came out to get revenge with duct tape and shaving creme. We all got a little bit of shaving creme on our faces. Then the members of Fall Out Boy were jumping into the crowd constantly, it was pretty insane. Quite a fun night, there were a few kicks to the head by crowd surfers and getting hit in the head with guitars, but it was worth it.

And in case you didn't know Allister does not spell their name like ALLISTer. Let me explain that. After the concert I was down playing pool and I had a white t-shirt on. There is a broken pool cue and Jacob really wanted to write on my shirt, so I let he and Angie write ALLISTer R0x0rz on the back of it. Jacob didn't start the word Allister over far enough, so the er had to be lowercase so it fit.

Apple and Universal

There have been stories posted all over the place about Apple possibly buying Universal Music. Sounds like a very interesting move. If Apple is going to purcahse a music distribution company, I'm glad it's Universal, just because MCA and in turn Drive Thru Records is one of Universal's labels. My favorite computer company owning my favorite record label, woot! Actually, while Apple's buying companies they should buy the ReplayTV portion of Sonic Blue. :-)

OneWord: Step

"I'll take a step back and let you ahead, I'll take a step away and see if you come back because there's no more trying to make this alright. Will we ever be the same." Lyrics from Early November's song Sunday Drive. Well, it's 2:45 and I can't sleep so I guess I'll code for an hour or so. And no I don't know what that has to do with step.

OneWord: Momentum

Oh boy, a physics term. The law of conservation of momentum...aren't pool ball collisions usually used to demonstrate momentum in physics classes? Jillian's is having free pool today at 5 which is why I'm here writing this and not at class.

OneWord: Answer

42...the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. But what is the ultimate question? I hope I have all the answers to the questions on the 2 quizzes I have tomorrow, but if not they are open book so I should be able to find them. :-)

What was the last good game demo I played? I can't remember. I did just play Frequency though which is fun, even though I'm apparently horrible at keeping a beat.

Anime Music Videos

Added a list of some of my anime music videos. I have about 4 more CDs that Mike sent me a while ago that I need to add to the list yet.

OneWord: Reluctant

There are a few people I could categorize as being reluctant right now, including myself. Why is it so hard for people to talk to each sometimes. You should be able to tell your friends when something is bothering you right?

Posted by Jason at 07:41 PM

OneWord

I read about OneWord at Erik's blog the other day. It sounds interesting and I'm going to try doing them, so hopefully I'll have at least one post every day now.

CDs

I finally got around to posting my list of CDs. I only have a few but if anyone actually cares, they are listed.

April Fools

Here's a video of an April Fools joke played on a bunch of us by our friends in 450 on April 2nd. Angie called me on the phone and said to bring people up to see something really funny. So a bunch of us went upstairs and Angie said to look out the window. Watch the video to see what happened after that.
